Well, in the interests of having less to move later on, I've begun the process of clearing out some of my posessions. I already did some preliminary closet clearing this past weekend. But tonight I went through my library and sorted all of my books. I have WAY TOO MANY books! Yes, I admit it, I'm a bibliophile. Which is why I hung on to so many of these books for so long. Every time I moved and packed them all, I kept telling myself that I might need that book for something later on, especially my books from grad school. I can definitely tell that I am much more solid in my life's goals and ambitions now because it was much easier to face parting with many of these books. I know that I'm not going to go back for a PhD, or if I do, it'll be in education (curriculum and instruction), NOT history. So I really don't need all the feminist history of whatever books, or the queer theory works. And I definitely don't need the anthropology and biology textbooks from my undergrad years!! And so...

Half Price Books, Here I come!!!! (gimme money. *nod* lots of it.)

The worst part of sorting through my books, especially my fiction collection, was seeing how many of them I bought, yet never read. So, the good news is that I don't need to go buy any books for a while. I should be set for the next couple of months. Hee.

And for those of you who may be curious, here's a job update.

Well, I had thought that the third interview would be the charm, but, alas, it was not meant to be. I got the rejection call from Clear Creek-Amana earlier this week. So, for those of you playing at home, that's three interviews, three rejections. I don't feel quite so badly about this one though, because I'm about 99% sure that there was an inside candidate. Prior to my interview I was on their website, and one of their special education teachers had gone through the social studies teaching program at Iowa with me. I'm pretty sure that he interviewed for the position I did as an internal candidate and was offered the job. I do have an interview next Tuesday in Urbandale, so all is not lost. I also have sent application packets for two positions in Iowa City and one just outside Davenport (North Scott). Here's to hoping that the rejections are at an end!!

I always knew I would die young. *sigh*

World-renowned guru Stacy died today in a hospital in Maquoketa. Doctors are still unsure of what exactly caused the death, but believe it was due to complications after Stacy shagged too fast and suffered pains in her left ear. She was 5 years old.

Stacy was a fabulous person, who enjoyed everything about life. She was known for her passion for tiramisu, which she often ate 37 times a day. She loved to share tiramisu with everyone, and would even offer tiramisu to strangers. Stacy also enjoyed traveling, especially to historical landmarks, and loved meeting people around the world. On her trip to London she even met the president (and yes, she offered him tiramisu). After meeting him, Stacy said the President was pathetic.

Stacy is survived by her partner A Player to be Named Later, their 82 children, and their pet platypus named lovely.

Not much to say. I'm just feeling very happy and content. I've found a job to apply for that I really really want and think that I would be REALLY AWESOME at, so if you can send some "get me an interview" vibes my way, I'd definitely appreciate it.

I'm being punished for returning home late last night after going to my chiropractor (*sigh*) and running some errands in Iowa City. Cleo is absolutely co-dependent tonight and won't leave me alone at all. She's even taken great pains to try to curl up on my lap while I'm trying to write this. It'd be terribly annoying if it weren't so freakin' cute!!!

Well, the "flu" has passed. I'm kind of thinking that it must have been something that I (we) ate, since so many of us got hit at the same time, and it wasn't something that lasted too long. Oh well. At least it's OVER. So, it was back to work today. Whee!

I think Cleo was getting used to having a human at home with her though, since T was home over New Year's and I was home the last two days. Heh.

Wow. Just got done watching one of the most amazing motivational speakers I have ever seen. It was hilarious, and entertaining, but he had a great message for teens. As part of his presentation, he does a chalk drawing to illustrate the concepts and purpose of his message - living a courageous life - having the courage to follow your dreams.

I love Cleo. I just hate the fact that she has no killer instinct.

So, I'm awake again at this hour because my lovely kitty found another mouse in our house. Of course, she can't just kill it. Nooooo...she has to play with it. And I get to capture it. Ok. I shouldn't come down on the cat for not killing the thing, because, well, I couldn't bring myself to kill it either - I released it outside. But, damn it! I should be sleeping!

Money Pit??

I've become convinced that having a house (especially one so big) is a blessing and a curse. I absolutely love the space we have here, and the wood floors are gorgeous. But I'm starting to really worry that the lovely victorian home we moved into in April is actually a money pit.

We found out (the weekend we moved in, no less) that the roof leaks. [Note to anyone house-hunting/buying- don't think you're saving by not forking out the money to have the property inspected. I guarantee you will be better off in the long run.] Granted, mom and dad are coming this weekend to help patch it, but still...not what we were looking for.

Now, the light in the bathroom doesn't work. I fear that there is something wrong with the wiring - it's not exactly modern (still working with a fuse box here). And I've noticed some "staining" on our computer room ceiling. Please, please do not let this be some sort of leak from the bathroom upstairs!!!! My budget and my sanity cannot handle such a thing!

Oh well...I'll just do my laundry and the requisite cleaning that comes with the parents visiting, and watch James Blake kick some Roger Federer ass at the Open. :)
